An Eecient and Provably Correct Algorithm for the Multiscale Estimation of Image Contours by Means of Polygonal Lines

چکیده
A large portion of image contours is characterized by local properties such as sharp variations of the image intensity across the contour. However, the integration of local image descriptors estimated by using these local properties into curvilinear descriptors is a dii-cult problem from a theoretical perspective because of the combinatorially large number of possible curvilinear descriptors. An approach, based on the notion of compressibility of a graph, is proposed to deal with this issue. A linear-time multiscale algorithm is proposed which provably recovers contours with an upper bound on the approximation error. In the noise-free limit case, all contours are recovered with probability one. 1 Figure 1: Curve-based representations of image contours computed by the proposed approach (middle) and by more traditional methods (right). The edge representation on the right has been computed by using the Canny's algorithm implementation of the Matlab's image processing toolbox.

متن کاملMultiscale estimation of regular image contours via a graph of local edgel hypotheses
The problem of estimating the regular portions of the contours in an image is formulated in a probabilistic and multiscale framework. The objective is to compute a small set of polygonal lines which, with high probability, contains an approximation to every contour in the scene. These polygonal lines are represented by paths in a graph whose arcs represent local contour hypotheses. The main dif...

Background: Breast cancer is currently one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide. The diagnosis and separation of cancerous tumors in mammographic imagesrequire accuracy, experience and time, and it has always posed itself as a major challenge to the radiologists and physicians. Objective: This paper proposes a new algorithm which draws on discrete wavelet transform and adaptive ...
متن کاملA Hybrid 3D Colon Segmentation Method Using Modified Geometric Deformable Models
Introduction: Nowadays virtual colonoscopy has become a reliable and efficient method of detecting primary stages of colon cancer such as polyp detection. One of the most important and crucial stages of virtual colonoscopy is colon segmentation because an incorrect segmentation may lead to a misdiagnosis. Materials and Methods: In this work, a hybrid method based on Geometric Deformable Models...
متن کاملAn Advanced State Estimation Method Using Virtual Meters
- Power system state estimation is a central component in energy management systems of power system. The goal of state estimation is to determine the system status and power flow of transmission lines. This paper presents an advanced state estimation algorithm based on weighted least square (WLS) criteria by introducing virtual meters. For each bus of network, except slack bus, a virtual meter...
